So I think Mother Nature looked at the calendar the other day and was like "Oh crap. December already? Better turn down the temperature." This has been a very cold week in Washington. Nicole and I have to layer up even for the shortest walks. The funny thing is that I remember fighting my mom as a kid about wearing a wool hat (the ones with the puffy ball at the top...) because they looked so lame. As soon as we were out of sight from the house we'd take off the dorky hats and stuff them in our jacket pockets. Then when we'd get back that evening with our faces bright red, noses dripping my mom would be like "You didn't wear your hats!" We'd say something like they kept falling off while sledding so we had to put them in our pockets. Well anyway I don't leave the house these days without one on. It would be like committing suicide but by your own stupidity. I've even spotted a kid or two (maybe the same one...not sure) wearing basketball shorts in the morning on the way to the bus. What the funky chicken? Maybe he's doing a science project on hypothermia or something. Good luck ya nutty teenager...
Well back to the walks....Henry absolutely LOVES the cold weather. He gets charged up and wants to roll on frozen lawns and jump up to grab his leash. He goes cuckoo bananas and tries to play with other dogs on their walks. He's a nut. I think there is something electric about the cold air that turns him into a crazy dog.
I checked the progress the other day and we're about 22 percent of the way to our goal of walking to China. I think it will be tougher to convince Nicole to come outside when the temperatures are at freezing (actually for the high of the day) but somehow Henry and I will do it. Oh and today we were without power for about ten hours. I've never been so delighted to head to the office for a work day.
That's it for now...
